James Pozzetta, Architect
Currently serving as the Vice-Chair of the Fernandina Beach Historic District Council, I would like to introduce myself.
I am a State of Florida Licensed Architect and also a LEED Accredited Professional. I hold both a Bachelor’s Degree in Design and a Master’s Degree of Architecture from the University of Florida. While attending school, I spent several years studying architecture abroad in Italy at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture. While there, I developed a passion for historic architecture and witnessed firsthand the complexities of combining historically sensitive design work with practical applications of modern materials and uses.
I moved to Fernandina Beach in 1996 to work as an intern architect for Beer, Stauffer and Associates. As the firm grew and changed I worked for both Mike Stauffer and Jose Miranda – under their guidance I learned to appreciate and understand the historic underpinnings of the fabric of Fernandina Beach’s architecture. After earning my Architect’s License from the State of Florida, I opened up my own practice and have been designing projects on and off Amelia Island, from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando, and Jacksonville to Fernandina Beach.
I currently serve on the Architectural Review Boards for Pirate’s Cove, Ocean Ridge, and Beach Haven where the predominant style is a hybrid Florida Vernacular architecture that blends historical forms with modern practices.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have and look forward to the opportunity to serve my clients and our growing community.
